Today I went in for my photo shoot at the Victoria model agency. I had to bring a suit, sports clothes and casual clothes, all for my modelling CV- not for work. Let me tell you- it was fun. In front of a camera I tend to prance and fidget and strike poses anyway, so being told to do that was very liberating. It felt a lot like playing, like I was a little kid and the adults were watching me, and everything I did they said- ‘wow, isn’t he clever!’ or- ‘oh so cute!’ I broke out my ‘Welcome …
Mike buys a camera!
What with all the blogging I’ve been doing recently, and posting photos and icons with every post, and recently buying a headset mic for doing podcasts and just generally gearing up, I figured it was about time I bought a half-decent camera. I’ve been shooting so far with a Sharp 910 camera phone. For a phone, it’s a pretty good camera. 4x optical zoom, 5 mega pixel. But because it’s so compact, the lens is tiny and junk, little light gets in, and it performs abysmally in anything less than bright day-light. Recently my buddy Canadian Mike got married (post …

Mike buys a bike!
Last weekend I finally bought, after months and months of deliberation, a new bike. Part of the problem was having a similar bike back in the UK- but the cost of shipping it was prohibitive. A tricky situation, since I have a hard time spending money. Why is that? Is it the Puritan ethic I was raised with? Is it me trying to save the world by minimizing my carbon footprint? Is it that I don’t want to consume any goods as that encourages little kids in Asia to work in sweat shops? Who knows. Anyway- here it is: She’s …
Shogun Boardgame
Shogun arrived!! I ordered it from a guy in the US, through boardgamegeek.com. Am totally psyched to play it. It’s in great condition with all the pieces intact. It cost $65, which is not bad seeing as it’s been out of production for like 15 years. Shipping cost $45. Here’s a photo of the board- We used to while away long hours when I was a kid playing this. Damn I’m psyched. Raises the question- what games did you play as a kid? For me: -Shogun (all-day marathon sessions with Joe and some kid called Martin, maybe the Asif kids …
